APS University रीवा, सतना, सीधी, शहडोल, उमरिया और सिंगरौली जिलों में स्थित 150 महाविद्यालयों पर अपने क्षेत्राधिकार के साथ एक शिक्षण-सह-संबद्ध विश्वविद्यालय है।
विश्वविद्यालय का नाम कैप्टन अवधेश प्रताप सिंह Awadhesh Pratap Singh (APS University Rewa) के नाम पर रखा गया है, जो मिट्टी के एक प्रतिष्ठित पुत्र और एक स्वतंत्रता सेनानी हैं। विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना 20 जुलाई 1968 को हुई थी और इसे फरवरी 1972 में यूजीसी की मान्यता मिली। इसमें एसोसिएशन ऑफ इंडियन यूनिवर्सिटीज़ (AIU) और ऑल कॉमनवेल्थ एसोसिएशन ऑफ़ यूनिवर्सिटीज़ (ACAU) की सदस्यता है।
